Ионосферное распространение на достаточно низких частотах, на которых при данных условиях сигнал сквозь ионосферу распространяться не может; при этом радиоволна подвергается последовательной рефракции, которая при наблюдении с достаточно большого расстояния может рассматриваться как эквивалент отражению от гипотетической поверхности.
